Host a Diaper Drive

Support the Serve a Village Diaper Bank by conducting a diaper drive with your work, club, team, PTA, moms group, scouting troop, youth group, religious organization, school, community center, or any other civic minded group.

Organizing a drive is easy and fun! Here are a few basic steps that will help to make your drive a success:

1.  Assemble a team and brainstorm together to create a plan.  Be creative.  Have contests between different classes or departments to see who can collect the most.  Make your drive a "Baby Shower" for babies in need.  Make the diaper drive a fun service project that will get your group excited about helping others in a visible way.  Setting a goal will help boost participation, for example help us raise 5,000 diapers for babies in need.

2.  Set the dates for your drive.  (We recommend that your drive lasts at least a week or two to allow people time to gather diapers.)  Clearly state when you will start and end.

3.  Establish a drop off location for both diapers and monetary donations.   If you hold a large drive with multiple drop off locations for diapers and wipes, we can loan you several pack 'n plays that work well as collection bins.  If you would like to use our pack 'n plays please email us at diaperbank@serveavillage.org.  We'll let you know if they are available.

4.  Consider making a financial contribution or securing a company match.  Serve a Village purchases diapers at deeply discounted prices available only to diaper banks.  Monetary donations allow us to manage our inventory and make sure that we have enough of each size diaper. 

5.  Involve your clients, members, family, vendors, friends, fellow scouts, community leaders, etc.

6.  Advertise your drive.

7.  If appropriate for your organization, plan a kick-off event to get everyone excited and a wrap up so that your group can see their accomplishments.

8.  Let us know about your drive by emailing diaperbank@serveavillage.org.  Please include the name of your group, the dates of your drive, your name and contact information, including phone number, and the name and contact information of the person who will drop off the diapers.  We'll work with you to set up a time and place for you to drop off your diapers at the end of your drive.

9.  Hold your drive.  

10.  When your drive is complete please let us know how many diapers you have collected.  Then deliver your diapers on the date, time and place that we have previously set with you.  

Organizing a diaper drive is a great opportunity for everyone, including youth!  They'll learn and practice leadership skills, fulfill service learning requirements for school, and make a difference in the life of someone that they don't even know - all while expressing their own creativity.
