In January of 2023 I went to Kenya on a Serve a Village expedition.
During a certain gathering that I attended on that expedition, I noticed women walking down a rocky path, then coming back up half an hour later carrying 5-gallon containers, full of water, on their heads. I commented that my neck could never handle that. A gentleman that was also at this gathering told me that for $500.00 to $600.00 USD local tradesmen could be hired to dig a well. If such a well was made close to where we were standing, 15 families would have access to it.
My reaction in my head was: “I can do that!” I had enough money in my emergency, or rainy-day savings to finance a well. It was such an amazing feeling to be able to make so many people’s lives a little easier!
I found out from this gentleman that he had already been able to fund 24 wells and was planning to oversee as many wells as can be funded for those in the greatest need of access to clean water.
In 2023 with help of friends and family, Serve a Village was able to raise enough money to have 7 wells made!
If you are interested in sponsoring a well and having your name on it, please donate a minimum of $500.00. If you are interested in donating to the well fund, which takes care of any unexpected costs i.e., having to relocate because of rock, or having to dig extra deep to reach water, then please donate whatever you’d like. Remember Serve a Village does not receive any payment from your donations and has many other projects you might be interested in donating to.
